Removal of engines cost SLR dearly

Trains cancelled due to engine shortages

Sri Lanka’s ‘carriage-strapped’ Railway Department has cancelled two popular trains from Colombo to Badulla in the hill country and back starting on October 4.

Grandmother dies on track

A woman carrying an infant and walking on the railway track near the Horape station, was killed on the spot when a Colombo Fort-bound passenger train knocked her down on Sunday.
