Derailment in Mahawa
The Colombo bound train from Batticaloa derailed yesterday in Mahawa area creating a blockade for four mail trains which were to operate last night and this morning.
Several compartments including the locomotive had derailed due to one of the rail tracks being severed. As a result two mail trains bound for Trincomalee and Batticaloa which were to depart from Colombo and two mail trains which were to return to Colombo were also held up.
According to Colombo Railway Control Room the tracks were to be mended by this morning.
