Derailment hold up trains for 3 hours
Train services on the southern line were held up for around three hours last Friday after the Kandy-bound express from Matara derailed at Dodanduwa.
The Ruhunu Kumari and the Matara Intercity were delayed as a result of this derailment, railway sources said.
The express which derailed had left Matara at 2.45 p.m. and was scheduled to reach Maradana at 7 pm, but finally made it at 9.45 pm – almost three hours behind schedule, after railway men worked frantically to put it back on track, the sources said.
“We had to go through agony as the trains were held up for hours”, a passenger complained.
