Bomb found at Peradeniya Station

Peradeniya Police say that there was a plastic tube with explosives, one detonator with a wire 4 inches in length, gelignite and TNT explosives in the bomb found at the Peradeniya Station.
The bomb was found on a bench in the Station. DIG Central Province Kingsley Ekanayake is directing the investigations

Recent derailments due to financial constraints

General Manager Railways, Dr. Lalithasiri Gunaruwan attributed the recent derailments to the acute financial constraints, there is a short supply of spare parts such as sleepers, rails and locomotive engine components.

Sri Lanka railways revamp schedule on commuter appeals

Goods Train derails near Rozella

An upcountry goods train derailed yesterday morning near Rozella disrupting train services on the inadequately maintained upcountry line.
The incident resulted in some minor damages as well as causing one of the carriages to fall over. The derailment occurred close to the 105th milepost about two miles past the Rozella railway station.

Udarata Manike collides with Powerset

The Badulla bound Udarata Manike express train from Colombo Fort derailed near the Veyangoda station around 10.30 today when a Powerset on a dry run collided into its observation saloon.
