Following the derailment of the Matara bound Medawachchiya train on Monday, just past the Hikkaduwa Railway station, train services on the coast line have been halted between Ambalangoda and Galle for two days until the wreckage is cleared and the tracks repaired.

A bus shuttle has been organised for the benefit of office workers who travel to places between Ambalangoda and Colombo from Galle and vice versa.

Even season ticket holders are entitled to commute in these special shuttle service buses between Galle and Ambalangoda, Railway authorities said yesterday.

Normal train services continue between Galle and Matara.
