Transport of DMU from China to Colombo

Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Transport Dullas Alahapperuma, to entrust the transport of 15 DMUU consisting of 90 from Port Qingdoa, China to the Port of Colombo at a total Freight Charge cost of US$ 3,759,165/= (SL Rs.407,531,077) to M/s Ceylon Shipping Corporation Ltd.

Train services resumes on coast line

Train services on the coast line which returned to normalcy following Monday’s freak accident on the Thotagamuwa Bridge near Hikkaduwa, are to resume today.

Railway says ‘no’ to future level crossings

In the wake of continuous accidents at railway level crossings, the Railways Department has decided not to permit any more level crossings on the island’s rail network.
