Two trains collide in Dehiwala

Two trains collided each other in between Dehiwala & Wellawatta today around 6.35pm. When Matara Bound Colombo express train stopped near Dehiwala railway station due to colour signal failure, Aluthgama bound Colombo power set train which came behind crashed with it.

Eyewitnesses said few commuters traveling on the footboard of the power set train received minor injuries owing to fallen down from the train. Meanwhile at least two commuters traveling in the Matara express train also received minor injuries. However, no major damages occurred to both trains and train service on coastal line back to normal within few minutes, railway authorities confirmed.
