Sri Lankan Railway workers preparing to strike
Sri Lankan Railway workers today warned that they will go for a union action on 14th of this month if the authorities fail to resolve their salary anomalies.
According to the Railway sources another discussion was held last evening between the union members and the authorities regarding the salary issue. The rail workers mainly demand a payment of a distress loan and categorization of salary increases in some capacities.
At yesterday’s meeting the authorities have promised to rectify these problems within the next few days, Railway union sources said.
“If they fail to do so, we will definitely go for a one day strike, said Sampath Rajitha, Convener of the Joint Federation of Railway Trade Unions.
