Coastline train services back to normal
The railway coastline service which had been interrupted during the weekend would be back to normal from today, a spokesman of the Ambalangoda railway station said. There was only a limited service on the costline during the last couple of days as the Thotagamuwa railway bridge near Hikkaduwa was under repair from Friday midnight.
“The trains from Maradana, Matara and Galle ran up to the Thotagamuwa bridge during this period and commuters took their turn to board their respective trains crossing the bridge by foot.
“We expect to complete the repair work tonight,” the spokesman said yesterday.
