Coastline train services back to normal

Repairs to P’deniya-Kandy rail track

The Matale bound train leaving Colombo Fort at 10.35 a.m. will operate only up to the Peradeniya Junction from October 11 to 14 as the rail track between Peradeniya and Kandy would be repaired during this period.
During this period, the Kandy bound train from Hatton at 9 will also be operated up to Peradeniya Junction.

Railway strike ends

The three-day long strike by railway workers ended this afternoon (Oct. 06th) following mediation by Transport Minister Dallas Alahapperuma.
The work stoppage by locomotive drivers and railway guards concluded after Minister Alahapperuma held talks with trade union representatives.
 
Meanwhile, the Railway Superintendent has said only 50 trains, out of 300 on schedule, had operated today.
