New Retiring Rooms for transit railway passengers in Colombo Fort
A new “Rest Room” for transit railway passengers is to be set up close to the Fort railway station next year, Transport Ministry sources revealed. The “Rest Room” cost of Rs.15 million will come in the form of a grant by a Chinese company, in response to a request made by the Sri Lankan government.
The ministry has also purchased 15 power sets (valued US$ 39.6 million) from the said company at a lower rate. The four storied new building will have the capacity to accommodate over 200 people, and is to be completed within a year.
