Train ticket fares to be possibly reduced from next week
Minister Dulles Alahapperuma said that the Transport Ministry was contemplating the reduction of railway ticket fares in tandem with the bus fares reduction after the decrease in the diesel fuel prices announced by the government in the New Year’ relief package. He said the decision on whether to reduce the train ticket fares would be taken next week.
Railway ticket prices were last reduced in November when the railway department announced the new fare structure inline with the new government budget for 2009.
