Yaazh Devi express train to be extended to Omanthai
The Yaazh Devi express train that presently runs between Colombo and Vavuniya is to be extended to Omanthai. The decision to extend the service to Omanthai was taken by the Railways Department recently.
In line with the decision, a Railways Engineers gang was send to Omanthai to survey the current situation. The Railway Engineers who went from Anuradhapura have observed the shortcomings that are presently prevailing in Omanthai and have submitted a detailed report to the Railways Department.
A railways officer told Thinakaran that since the area up to Omanthai has been secured the train service will first be extended to Omanthai and thereafter decision will be taken on extending the service further to Kankesanthurai.
