Undated tickets causing hardships to commuters
Train travellers from Panadura are facing headships due to the issue of undated tickets at the Panadura railway station. Ticket checkers call into question the validity of the tickets causing much embarrassment to the passengers who are not responsible for it in any manner.
The station master and the booking clerks at the ticket counter when questioned about this anomaly said the checkers are instructed to check whether the serial number on the ticket coincides with the date of issue. The date puncture used by them are quite old and do not punch the date accurately.
However ticket checkers in some trains that are not in a position to check the serial numbers of the tickets issued by the ticket counter call in question the validity of tickets. Passengers requested the Railway Department to replace the unserviceable equipment used at the Panadura railway station and save the passengers the embarrassment of having to waste time in arguing with these checkers.
