Special train services for New Year
Sri Lanka Railways will deploy 47 special trains during the Sinhala and Hindu New Year.Sri Lanka Railways General Manager Dr. Lalithasiri Gunaruwan told a press conference in Colombo yesterday that this special train service will commence from April 8 and continue until April 19.
He said the 47 special train service will commence from Colombo Fort, Maradana Mahawa, Badulla, Hatton, Rambukkana, and Galle stations. Meanwhile, extra compartments will be added to the Colombo-Fort intercity train, Colombo Fort-Batticaloa (Meenagaya) intercity train, Colombo Fort-Trincomalee night mail, Colombo Fort-Anuradhapura train and Rajarata Rejina train.
“We have given priority for long distance train services to facilitate commuters to get their homes,” DR Gunaruwan said.
These special train services will be available for their return jouney as well.
