John Keells Consumer Foods Sector with its diverse portfolio of products and trusted brands has become the undisputed choice to supply the Sri Lanka Railway’s Catering Service. The Railway Catering Service provides food and beverage services to several thousands of railway commuters at all leading stations and on board trains on selected routes around the country. Parallely, the Sri Lanka Railways caters to a very large base of commuters from different socio-economic groups in addition to forming a vital part of the country’s tourism trade.

J&P Catering Services managed by Chef Jilan de Silva, a professional Hotelier with local and overseas experience, which has taken over the Railway Catering Service, has tied up with the John Keells Consumer Foods Sector to upgrade the standards and quality of the service provided. Sri Lankan railway commuters will soon enjoy Elephant soft drinks, Elephant House ice creams and Keells and Krest food products through the network’s restaurants at all leading railway stations and also on Buffet Cars on selected routes.

“With the Sri Lanka Railways identifying the need to upgrade catering service facilities, and, with heavy emphasis on quality and professionalism, linking with a reputed supplier and trusted brand became critical. The obvious choice was John Keells Consumer Foods Sector, with its unblemished reputation”, Chef de Silva said. This is also reinforced by its Vision – ‘Our passion to deliver pleasure and nutrition throughout people’s lives, through exciting and superior products, whenever and wherever they chose to eat and drink’.

President of the John Keells Consumer Foods Sector, Jit Gunaratne said, “We are indeed thrilled to partner with the Sri Lanka Railway and J&P Catering Service to provide a quality service to the thousands of Sri Lankan railway commuters.
