Unconscious family arrives in Colombo train
Railway officials yesterday found an unconscious family including the father, mother and two infants on the Colombo bound Kandy train which reached the Maradana Railway Station last evening.The mother and two babies were rushed to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital while the father had been admitted to National Hospital after a locomotive operator of the Maradana Railway Station alerted the Colombo Emergency Ambulance Service around 6.50 pm.
According to an official of the Emergency Ambulance Service a fellow passenger in the train had noticed some unknown person giving biscuits to this family during their journey.
The incident had been brought to the notice of the Maradana police while the family is reportedly from the Maligawatte area.
Attempts to speak to Police spokesman Ranjith Gunasekara on the matter last evening were in vain as he was not contactable.
The condition of the victims was not known at the time of going to press. (KK)
