Night train services resumes to Vavuniya
Sri Lanka Railways is to resume its night mail service between Vavuniya and Colombo from tomorrow.
Speaking at a special function held this morning in Vavuniya, the Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said that the first night mail train will leave Vavuniya rail station at 9:45 p.m. tomorrow after a lapse of one and half years.
The night mail between Colombo and Vavuniya was suspended temporarily on February 3rd, 2008 due to the fighting between the government forces and LTTE in Vavuniya.
Meanwhile, the train ‘Rajarata Rajina’, which travels between Medawachchiya and Matara currently, is to extend its services to Vavuniya from 1st of August, Minister Dallus Alahapperuma added.
