This is a fantastic site. Excellent for keeping abreast with what is happening with the Sri Lankan Railways. I visit it almost daily. The site organisers are to be highly commended. Keep it going!!
This is a very good iniative. Please focus on ‘Travel Reservation’ side, then only users will get the real benifit. In some railway stations,, it’s hard to get tickets other than 3rd class.
Thanks for the slrfc web team. you are doing a great job. keep it up with latest railway news. I’m from University of Colombo and a son of former Railway Driver and really interested in browsing this SLR site. I’ll be sending you rare SLR photos soon. Thanks.
Great site. You should consider creating a Twitter profile as well to publish your updates. Also, please check out our new Sri Lanka news site http://toplankanews.com.
Congratulations on an interesting and informative website. This is better than many other Sri Lankan websites. Just noticed in your timetables, however, that Matara is also entered under the Northern line, which seems to be incorrect, and it is also mentioned in the hill country schedule. Presume the reference should have been to Matale?
Sri Lanka Railway can contribute tourism industry (for Locals and Foreigners) in Sri Lanka in many ways. Your promotions in mass medias are not sufficient.
Also, if SLR could fix one LCD display in Hitachi Train compartments to see the view of the front track through a camera eye, that will give trmendous experiance to the travellers
I am wondering if someone could help me.
I am reseaching my family tree and my Great Grandfather William Parkins was a Foreman and laterly a Railway Inspector in the 1920’s in Ceylon.
My Grandfather William was born in Candy
I would like to get try and get more infomation on their lives.

The whole of Sri Lanka—North, East, West, and South—is united by a band of steel: the Railway. Alas, over the years it has been badly neglected and left to rust its way to oblivion. It connects the ports of Colombo, Trincomalee, Galle and Kankesanturai. It also connects Talaimannar and Batticaloa, Puttalam and Matara. It penetrates [...]

Very good site. You may want to change the order of the options of the online poll as most people selecting ‘good’ may mean ‘excellent’!!!
