Sri Lanka transport officials have estimated that nearly Rs. 4 billion is needed for the renovation of the Northern rail track which has severely damaged due to the war in the past decade.

Sri Lanka railways revamp schedule on commuter appeals
Sri Lanka’s cash strapped state-run railway utility has revamped its schedule from Saturday, following requests from ‘commuter associations’, officials said.
“Railway Department took this decision after requests from passengers,” railways chief Lalitha Siri Gunaruwan, said.
