Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said approval has been granted to absorb 1,500 casual, substitute and contract employees of the Sri Lanka Railway Service, into the permanent cadre.

The Transport Ministry is planing to absorb another 850 employees of the Railway Department to the permanent cadre.
They had not been granted permanency for the last 15 years.
